tin-dog@hotmail.co.uk The Tin Dog welcomes you to sit back and listen to his rants and ramblings about all that is best in modern SF and Television. Via the gift of the new fangled Podcast over the tinterweb. As you can probably guess Tin Dog mostly talks about Doctor Who, Torchwood and Sarah Jane Smith but that wont stop him talking about any other subject you suggest. Hailing from a non specific part of the northeast of England, Tin Dog is male and in his mid 30s. A life long fan of almost all TV SF. His semi-autistic tendencies combined with his total lack of social skills have helped him find a place in the heart of British SF Fandom. Even as a child the Tin Dogs mother told him that she can trace his love of SF TV back to his rhythmic kicking, while still in the womb, along to the beat of the Avengers theme music. From Gabriel Chase to Totters Lane, from the Bad Wolf Satellite to the back streets of the Cardiff, Tin Dog will give you his thoughts on the wonderful Whoniverse. She is in the Crowmarsh Institute on Earth, in London, in 1978, and everyone is calling her Doctor Marshall. They tell her the world she has known is but a fantasy, a delusion, and that this place is the one that is real. Surrounded by familiar faces on unfamiliar people, Leela knows what is true and what is false. But how long can she believe when everyone around her says it's a dream? What's really happening here? The Mind Runners by John Dorney It used to be fun, Mind Running. Hopping into the heads of total strangers to see what they saw, feel what they felt. But one by one the Mind Runners are dying in a wave of suicides. And no-one on the planet Chaldera knows why. The Doctor, Leela and K9 arrive in the city that covers all of this dying world as it prepares to evacuate its people, and they immediately find themselves involved in a mystery. Who or what is responsible for the wave of death? Is it the motorised cult known as the Digitals? The enigmatic Mr Shift? Or did all the victims attempt to run the Night Mind, the demonic consciousness of legend that is so twisted and evil that it drives mad all who touch it? The TARDIS crew are about to find out. The Demon Rises by John Dorney A killer has been uncovered, but the mystery is far from solved. The Doctor, Leela, K9 and their friends are on the run, pursued from all sides. All the clues point to one place - but getting there alive may prove impossible. A brilliant and funny addition to the monthly range. @TinDogPodcast On the planet Cicero Prime, the kingdom of Cardenas is divided, with the whole population forced to swear allegiance to either the effete Duke or the fiery, hard-edged Duchess. This is a situation both parties have grown tired of. What use is half a kingdom when, thanks to a carefully engineered murder, you could have it all? Surely, neither of them would be rash enough to summon the deadly off-world assassin The Scorpion to help with their problem? And surely, this terrifying figure wouldn't arrive wearing a long cream coat and striped trousers...? "Mark Elstob is just Glorious...His Number 6 is better and more personal than the original... Thoughly enjoyable, throughly captivating... This is Nic Briggs Prisoner and its a worthy addition to the Prisoner Canon." I\'m not a number. I\'m a free man!\' January 16th, 1967... A secret agent resigns, then wakes up to find himself imprisoned in \'The Village\' - a bizarre community with a cheery veneer, but an underbelly of mystery and threat. All occupants of The Village have numbers instead of names, with our secret agent forced to accept the mantle of Number Six. The authorities running this Village are intent on discovering why Number Six resigned - but it\'s a secret he steadfastly refuses to divulge. As the drama unfolds, the authorities, in the guise of the sinister Number Two, try ever more ingenious and aggressive means to bend Number Six to their will. All the while, Number Six is intent on two aims: to escape and to find out \'Who is Number One?\'. 2.1 I Met a Man Today (adapted from Many Happy Returns) Exhausted after a daring escape from the Village, Six returns to London to find a woman living in his home. Despite being fearful that this could be yet another trick by those who run the Village, he dares to take the risk and starts to get to know her... Meanwhile, those running British Intelligence have their own agenda. 2.2 Project Six (adapted from A, B and C) Six is now certain he can\'t trust anyone. Any food or water in the Village could be laced with chemicals to alter his mental state. Going \'nil by mouth\' in an attempt to prevent potential drugging, he finds himself dazed and confused by hunger and dehydration. And a prisoner in a secret laboratory makes some unnerving claims. Claims that lead to the identity of Number One. 2.3 Hammer into Anvil (adapted from the TV episode of the same title) For the new Number Two \'the gloves are off\'. His mission is to break Six, saying he must be either hammer or anvil. But Six has a plan to exploit a weakness in the system. 2.4 Living in Harmony (not adapted from the TV episode of the same title) Six finds himself in entirely unfamiliar circumstances. He is also confronted with the seemingly impossible return of Number Nine. But worst of all, he is faced with a deadly choice. Just how much is his freedom really worth? Written By: Nicholas Briggs Directed By: Nicholas Briggs Cast Mark Elstob (Number Six), Lucy Briggs-Owen (Kate Butterworth), Susan Earnshaw(Brenda), Jim Barclay (Control), Barnaby Edwards (Danvers / Shopkeeper), John Heffernan (Thorpe), Sarah Mowat (Janet), Sara Powell (Number Nine / Number 90), Andrew Ryan (Number 52), Nicholas Briggs (Number 99), Jez Fielder (Number 48), Deirdre Mullins (Number Two), Helen Goldwyn (Barmaid / Village Voice / Village Clone / Number 26 / Lunar Controller / Moon Clone / Observation Controller), Michael Cochrane (Number Two). It will be exclusively available to buy from the BF website until December 31st 2017, and on general sale after this date. The world has ended. 'The Death' pandemic crossed continents, sparing only a fraction of the global population. The survivors are now trying to pick up the pieces and rebuild society - to create a new future. But with no cities, no laws, no technology, everyone must start over. And the worst of human nature has survived along with the best... Four new battles for survival, from the world of Terry Nation's cult-classic series. 7.1 Journey's End by Roland Moore Alone and resolute, a mother has spent the years since the Death searching for her son. She is closing in on her final lead. One last hope to find Peter. But for Abby Grant, the worst possible thing might be to find what she is looking for... 7.2 Legacy by Simon Clark Greg Preston is dead. But the work he did in forging his foundation, in bringing communities together, lives on. When she and Ruth encounter those whose lives he touched, Jenny Richards is forced to remember how the man she loved abandoned her. But when she meets a common enemy, can she find the strength to make a stand? 7.3 Old Friends by Matt Fitton Ruth Anderson and Evelyn Piper unite on a mission of mercy. An old friend is in trouble and in the path of dangerous forces. Jackie Burchell could reveal secrets that change lives. But first, she must find her own way back. When things are at their worst, it's old friends who keep you going. 7.4 Reconnection by Christopher Hatherall As Jenny continues her plan to restore electricity across the country, she meets someone she never thought she'd see again - but it's a very different Abby Grant to the one who left the Grange. @TinDogPodcast reviews 722: #Main Range 231 - The Middle #DoctorWho from @BigFinish Synopsis This title was released in November 2017. It will be exclusively available to buy from the BF website until December 31st 2017, and on general sale after this date. "10/10 This enjoyable yarn is high concept sci-fi at its best. The piece is a clever and topical commentary on age and its role in society...The Middle is a beautifully paced, thought-provoking and enjoyable piece of high concept science fiction. Definitely worth a listen if you\'re a fan of hard Sci-Fi and enjoy the Sixth Doctor. Just remember...the End is the Beginning..." Blogtor Who "This is a great \'fun-house mirror\' for our modern society on one hand, whilst a marvellous sci-fi bit of escapism on the other." Indie Mac User It\'s L/Wren Mrs Constance Clarke\'s birthday - and Flip is determined to make it an anniversary to remember. The futuristic colony of Formicia, where the pampered populace pass their days in endless leisure, seems the perfect place for a \'Wren Party\'. But all is not as it seems. Looking down from the Middle, the skyscraping tower that ascends as far as the colony ceiling, Formicia\'s overseers can see that the Doctor doesn\'t fit in - and it\'s not just his coat that makes him conspicuous... "The End is the Beginning," say the propaganda-like posters all over Formicia. Because to be part of this perfect society comes at a price. And the Doctor\'s already in arrears. It will be exclusively available to buy from the BF website until December 31st 2017, and on general sale after this date. "10/10 This feels exactly like the Time War series should. It separates itself from the Doom Coalition or any of the previous 8th stories and sets and gives you a distinct style whilst honouring who the 8th Doctor has to be until that fateful night."- IndieMacUser "This set is the Doctor many listeners have wanted. Though the circumstances may be grim, it would be churlish not to enjoy it." We Are Cult "Matt Fitton has penned an extremely worthy and unique Dalek story, and it\'s one that should go down in history within the Doctor Who fandom... I\'d say that The Starship of Theseus is like a cross of some of the best Tenth Doctor episodes; it has an overall feel of Voyage of The Damned, with some of the mystery from Planet of The Ood, and the terrifying aspects of Midnight. Perfection." - Gallifrey Archive "With incredible performances from all involved, strong direction, and evocative and powerful sound design, the shifts in tone and scale are handled with ease and create a thoroughly rewarding experience from beginning to end." - Doctor Who Reviews "10/10 It\'s the start of a whole new era for the Eighth Doctor and this box set is certainly a brilliant way to start it! An exceptional cast, praiseworthy original story-telling and outstanding cinematic music score." - The Host Productions "10/10 - Since its announcement back in 2015, the Eighth Doctor\'s Time War series has been among Big Finish\'s most anticipated releases. Series one certainly doesn\'t disappoint. The writing team of Dorney and Fitton lay out a series that takes Doctor Who far outside its comfort zone. With strong performances all around, \'The Eighth Doctor: The Time War\' is an essential piece of listening for any Doctor Who fan and the beginning of something that sounds to be truly unmissable." - Blogtor Who The Eighth Doctor battles for survival in the Time War: 1. The Starship of Theseus by John Dorney The Doctor and his companion, Sheena, land the TARDIS on the glamorous luxury space-liner Theseus just as it\'s about to leave the Jupiter space-port. An opportunity for a holiday presents itself - and it\'s one they\'re very glad to take. But when a disturbance catches their attention, they realise sinister events are taking place on board. Passengers are vanishing on every trip. And unless they\'re careful they may be next. Can the Doctor and Emma solve the mystery? Or is there something else they should be worrying about? 2. Echoes of War by Matt Fitton Colliding with the full force of the Time War, the Doctor crash-lands on a jungle world with a ragtag band of refugees. To stay alive, they must cross a landscape where time itself is corrupted. A forest which cycles through growth and decay, where sounds of battle are never far away, and where strange creatures lurk all around. Luckily, the Doctor has friends: not only plucky scientist Bliss, but another, much more unlikely ally. Its name is \'Dal\'... 3. The Conscript by Matt Fitton Cardinal Ollistra has a new tactic to persuade the Doctor to join his people\'s fight. With his friends locked away, he has been conscripted alongside fellow Gallifreyans to train for the front lines of battle. Commandant Harlan has a reputation - his camp\'s regime is harsh. He believes the Time Lords must adapt to win this war, but the Doctor is not easily intimidated. Can there be any place for dissent when the Time War looms so close? 4. One Life by John Dorney As the full force of the Time War crashes down around the Doctor and his friends, a desperate battle for survival ensues. But not everyone is playing the same game. Ollistra is after a weapon that could end the war in a stroke and she\'ll sacrifice anyone or anything to take it back to Gallifrey. Even the Doctor. Surrounded by Daleks, and on a tortured planet, only one man can save the day. But he doesn\'t want to fight. A special run of prequels to Doctor Who: The War Doctor. Bath, 1756 - and a very dashing gentleman known only as the Doctor is newly arrived in town, accompanied by his lady friends Mrs Clarke and Mrs Ramon. He's created a stir among the gentlefolk of Georgian high society - and a stir in the heart of merry widow Mrs Theodosia Middlemint, rumour has it. They are not the only strangers from abroad causing tongues to wag, however. The mysterious Lady Clara, come from Amsterdam in the company of the noble Captain Van Der Meer, has the whole of Bath agog. Who is she, really? What is she, really? But there's something terrible beneath the veneer of Georgian gentility. As awful a horror as the Doctor has ever exposed, hidden inside Balsam's Brassworks. Something that needs to be brought to light, for the sake of all humanity. @TinDogPodcast reviews the wonderful #DoctorWho - Classic Doctors - New Monsters Volume 2 from @BigFinish CLASSIC DOCTORS, NEW MONSTERS VOLUME 02 This title was released in July 2017. It will be exclusively available to buy from the BF website until September 30th 2017, and on general sale after this date. A brand new boxset of four adventures, featuring monsters from the new series of Doctor Who! Night of the Vashta Nerada by John Dorney Funworld was set to be the happiest planet in the galaxy. A planet of joy, of euphoria, of laughter and delight. Except construction was marred by reports of a predator and then, a few days before opening, all communication ceased. Owner Georgia Donnelly is desperate to open the resort and has hired Amanda Steele's crew to find out what happened on the planet. They're the best. But even they might not be up to the task. Joined by the Doctor and being picked off one by one, they slowly start to realise that something terrifying lurks in the shadows. Empire of the Racnoss by Scott Handcock When a distress call rips the TARDIS from the Vortex, dragging it back through time, it arrives in the midst of a conflict between Gallifrey and an ancient foe. The Doctor, as ever, wants to help, but in returning a wounded combatant home, he becomes further and further entangled in a web of deceit and recrimination. A web spun by an eight-legged Empress and her minions... The Empire of the Racnoss is at war, and wherever he stands, the Doctor is on the wrong side. The Carrionite Curse by Simon Guerrier Katy Bell returns to her Midlands home to find strange goings-on at the buskers fair. A witch trial in the 1980s. A bonfire ready to be lit... Luckily, a colourful visitor is already investigating, and the local vicar, Katy's dad, is versed in tales of the macabre. Terrifying forces are on the loose, and the town hall holds a secret. There is black magic in the Black Country, and the Doctor has the name of his enemy on the tip of his tongue... Something wicked this way comes. Day of the Vashta Nerada by Matt Fitton As the Time War rages, Cardinal Ollistra of Gallifrey seeks to create ever more dangerous weapons to deploy against the enemy. When the Doctor stumbles across Synthesis Station, he discovers that the Time Lords have sponsored a project to weaponise already-lethal creatures. But in doing so, Eva Morrison and her team have unwittingly used a colony of Vashta Nerada with a very unfortunate history of humanoid contact. The Doctor finds himself leading a desperate race for survival, in which the shadows may be the least of their worries... Big Finish picks up the events after Miracle Day with Torchwood: Aliens Among Us... Captain Jack and Gwen Cooper have restarted Torchwood. But it's in a very different Cardiff. Something terrible's happened to the city. With every day getting darker, will Torchwood need to adopt a whole new approach? 5.1 Changes Everything by James Goss Tyler Steele has washed up in Cardiff looking for a fresh start. A disgraced journalist, he's looking into the Red Doors movement - are they really behind the terrorist attacks on immigrants? Tyler realises that this is the second chance he's been looking for, and he'll do anything to be a part of it. 5.2 Aliens & Sex & Chips & Gravy by James Goss Has Cardiff really been invaded by aliens? Tyler thinks he's found a lead - the daughter of the mysterious Ro-Jedda is getting married and has booked a private party.
